Are You Preparing For What You’re Praying for?

A little something I read from theprayingwoman.com. http://theprayingwoman.com/2014/03/30/are-you-preparing-for-what-youre-praying-for/

Hope it will be encouraging to you as it was to me. Simply encouraging us to live by faith. We serve a Supernatural God. One who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly of much more than we can ever ask or think. Have faith in Him and Dig Your Ditch!!!!

Are You Preparing For What You’re Praying for?

Psalm 5:12- Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have“. I bet we’ve all heard this quote (or some variation of it) at least once in our lives, and it’s true! We should be setting ourselves up for success in all areas of life in any way that we can. I believe with my whole entire heart that our God is a God of abundance. He wants us to live life to the fullest and He wants us to be able to enjoy our abundant lives that He has provided. God says that He will even give us favor that surrounds us a shield! That is quite a big statement, but as we know, God is a man of His word. What happens when you feel like God has more in store for you than what you currently have? Financial freedom to own your dream business? A new job doing what you’ve dreamed of since you were a little girl? Well my question to you is this; has He asked you to prepare for the abundance He desperately wants to give you? Have you dug your ditch yet?
If we really think God is a God of abundance, why aren’t we digging ditches yet?
By now you have to be wondering why this post is about ‘Digging Ditches’ and why I just mentioned digging a ditch yet again. Today I was reading in 2 Kings and stumbled upon this amazing analogy of how to receive the abundance God wants to give to us:
God gave Elisha instructions to fill the valley with ditches even though it was blazing hot outside and to everyone it looked like there was little to no chance of rain. Elisha heard God and was obedient. He fully expected God to not only be a man of His word but to provide abundantly for His people. Digging these ditches was a big undertaking and only by their faith did they do this and know that they had heard God correctly. God even gives them a disclaimer that {in words we use today} said “You’re not gonna see any sign of rain. It won’t be cloudy or windy. The rain is just going to come and give water to quench your thirst, your cattle’s thirst and all the other animal’s thirst in this dry land.” Verse 18 even says, this thing that is huge to the people, because they have been in a drought, is no big thing to God. He can snap His fingers and it will happen. Making it rain in a very dry land is easy as 1-2-3 for Him. These people were obedient and faithful because they trusted in their relationship with God. It did not matter what anyone else’s opinion was, they knew what they heard and they obeyed. They knew that our God is a God of supernatural abundance. They believed that He was so abundant that they filled a valley with ditches to catch all the rain they were expecting to receive from Him. If we know that our God is abundant, then why aren’t we digging our ditches today?
Whatever it is that you are believing for, start preparing for it. If your heart longs to start a business but you just do not see how you could ever have the finances for it, talk it out with God. After talking to Him, dig your ditch. Go get a bank account that is specifically for your business. If you are working in a dead-end job that seems to be getting you nowhere and it’s not where your heart is, start buying a wardrobe that will fit your new job. Start wearing those new clothes to work and dressing for the position and the success you are preparing for. Do you have a ministry on your heart? Dig that ditch by spending all your extra time with God, studying the Bible and writing your findings in a journal. God will not drop something big into your lap that you are not ready for. This is not to say that He cannot prepare you quickly and make things supernaturally happen, but He needs you to prepare in whatever way is necessary to receive that abundance. If we really think and believe that our God is a God of abundance then we need to get busy digging those ditches to hold all the favor He is going to have rain down upon us!
